THS cross country excels on Senior Night

The Trumbull High girls cross country team had reason to celebrate after a solid performance on Senior Night at their 2.9 home course, with five girls finishing in the top 10.

Trumbull posted a win over Danbury and St. Joseph, while losing to Fairfield Warde by five points.

Kate Romanchick led the way for Trumbull with her fourth win of the season. finishing first overall in a personal-best time of 18:24. She had an 18-second lead over Warde’s second-place finisher Sarah Radziewicz.

The top five: 1. Romanchick 18:25, 2. Radziewicz 18:43, 3. Isabelle Radziewiz Warde 20:02, 4. Jillian Ryan THS 20:31, 5. Natale Zhiltsova Warde 20:42.

Top five Trumbull girls 1. Romanchick, 4. Ryan 20:31, 6. Kaley Fasoli 20:42, 9. Haley Mocker 21:14, 10. Victoria Estacio 21:14

On the boys side, Charlie Taubl finished fifth overall and first for Trumbull in a time of 15:37.  The boys out pointed St Joseph, but lost to Warde and Danbury.

The top five finishers are as follows. 1. William Brisman Warde 15:15, 2. Jack Adamsk Danbury 15:25, 3. Trevor Reed Danbury 15:33, 4. Alex Mocarsk Warde 15:35, 5. Taubl 15:37.

The top five Trumbull boys were Taubl, 9. Mitch Vecchione 15:52, 14. Chris Alegi 16:08, 15. Taylor Auten 16:28, 17. Jake Cappello 16:32.

Both teams celebrated senior night with food, gifts and recognition for their upper classmates.
