Stanley Wolpiuk tossed a five-hitter and struck out six batters when the Trumbull Post 141 baseball team defeated Ridgefield, 4-0, on Tuesday.
Manager Brett Conner’s team is 9-2 and Zone IV rival Ridgefield is 3-8.
Post 141 scored two runs in the third inning and added single runs in the fourth and fifth.
In the third, Joe Nemchek reached on a dropped third strike, stole second and scored on Simon Whiteman’s double.
Whiteman stole third and came home when the catcher’s throw went into left field.
In the fourth, Wolpiuk drew a walk, stole second and went to third on an error. Brian Hnatuk plated him with a sacrifice fly.
In the fifth, Whiteman was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on Mark Hirschbeck’s second hit of the game.
