1. St. Joseph (16-2 FCIAC)
The St. Joseph Cadets locked up the FCIAC’s No. 1 seed with their 8-2 victory over Westhill on Wednesday and own an overall record of 17-3.
The Cadets are 5-2 against the rest of the tournament field, with wins over New Canaan, Darien, Greenwich, Stamford, and Westhill, and loss to Ludlowe and Danbury.
All three of St. Joseph’s losses were by one run this year and they are riding a nine-game win streak into the postseason.
2. Westhill (15-3 FCIAC)
The Vikings, who beat Ridgefield on Friday, are the No. 2 seed based on the head-to-head tiebreakers, with wins over No. 3 Stamford and No. 4 Darien. Westhill (16-4 overall) is also 5-2 against the other playoff teams, having beaten Darien, Ludlowe, Stamford, Danbury, and New Canaan. The Vikes have won five of their last six games.
3. Stamford (15-3 FCIAC)
Stamford, which tied Westhill and Darien at 15-3, finished the year 16-4 overall and took the No. 3 seed based on its 2-1 win over Darien on May 13. Stamford has also beaten Ludlowe, Danbury, and New Canaan.
The Black Knights, 4-3 against tournament teams, have won three straight and six of the last seven.
4. Darien (15-3 FCIAC)
The Blue Wave wrapped up the regular season with an impressive 8-1 over Ludlowe on Thursday and finished with an overall mark of 16-4.
Darien is 4-3 against the rest of the playoff field, with wins over New Canaan, Greenwich, Danbury, and Ludlowe. The Wave has also won 14 of 15 games, with the only blip being a 2-1 loss to Stamford on May 13.
5. Greenwich (14-4 FCIAC)
The Cardinals secured the No. 5 seed when they defeated Danbury, 3-0, in Friday’s regular-season finale.
Greenwich, which is 15-5 overall, went 3-4 against the other playoff teams this spring, with the wins coming against Stamford, Westhill and Danbury. The Cards are a hot team going into the postseason, having won eight of nine games.
6. New Canaan (13-5 FCIAC)
The Rams had a tough final stretch, playing four playoff teams in the final five games and they came through with a split to take the No. 6 seed. They took the No. 6 seed via their 6-0 win over Ludlowe on May 13.
New Canaan is 14-6 overall and 3-4 against the other FCIAC playoff teams, with the victories coming against Danbury, Ludlowe, and Greenwich.
7. Ludlowe (13-5 FCIAC)
The Falcons are also 14-6 overall this season and have gone 3-4 against the tournament field. Ludlowe beat Stamford, St. Joseph, and Greenwich as part of an 8-1 start to the season. The Falcons will be looking to rebound from a recent dip which saw them lose three of the last four games, although all three were against strong teams in New Canaan, Danbury, and Darien.
8. Danbury (12-6 FCIAC)
The Hatters’ loss to Greenwich on the final day of the regular season put them in the No. 8 spot. Danbury is 14-6 overall this spring, and was 2-5 against playoff teams, including wins over Ludlowe and the Hatters’ first round opponent, St. Joseph, on April 26.
