St. Joseph rallies to defeat Ridgefield, 21-17

Lars Pedersen gave the St. Joseph High football team a chance at victory and Kevin Trefz provided the winning points with a 14-yard touchdown run in the final minutes when coach Joe Della Vecchia’s Cadets went on the road and upended Ridgefield High, 21-17, on Friday night.

Pedersen’s 99-yard kickoff return for a score came with Ridgefield leading 17-7 in the third quarter.

Pedersen had a 6-yard run in the second period to give the Cadets the lead before the Tigers scored 10 points to take a 10-0 lead into the half.

Trefz’s touchdown came with 2:31 remaining, as St. Joseph improved to 3-0. Ridgefield is 0-3.

Marc Mrozek kicked all three conversions for the Cadets.
