St. Joseph falls to Waterford in states
The St. Joseph High softball team lost a 9-4 slugfest to Waterford in the second round of the Class M state tournament on May 29.
Kristen Chacho had three hits, including a solo home run for coach Jeff Babineau’s fifth-seeded Cadets (19-4).
Waterford, which scored six times in the fourth inning, had 14 hits and St. Joseph 13.
Lauren Pitney hit a two-run homer in St. Joseph’s three -un rally in the bottom of the seventh.
Amy Chacho had three hits.
Waterford (17-5), the 12 seed, defeated Haddam-Killingworth 3-1 in the quarters and will meet top-seeded Suffield (21-1) in the semifinals.
