St. Joseph edged by Ridgefield in boys hoops, 49-47

In a game dotted with turnovers and fouls, the Ridgefield High boys basketball team edged St. Joseph, 49-47, on Friday night in Ridgefield.

It was the second straight win for the Tigers, who are now 3-8 overall this season.

Ridgefield led 47-39 late in the game, but the Cadets scored six unanswered points to pull within 47-45. Chris Longo then hit two free throws for the Tigers, extending the lead to four points before St. Joseph got the final bucket of the game.

Matt Saporito led Ridgefield with 12 points. Will Brady added 11 points.

Omar Telfer scored a game-high 19 points for St. Joseph, which fell to 1-9 with its fifth consecutive loss.

The game was tied 19-19 at halftime and 30-30 through three quarters.
