
St. Joseph advances to FCIAC semifinals
St Joseph defeated Fairfield Warde/Ludlowe, 5-1, in FCIAC hockey quarterfinal round action at Terry Connor Rink in Stamford on Friday.
The second-seeded Cadets (16-4-1) will meet either third-seeded New Canaan (12-6-2) or sixth-seeded Greenwich (12-8) in Wednesday’s semifinal round in Stamford
Filippo Petrini gave St. Joseph a 1-0 lead at 3:11 of the first period off an assist from Ryan Corcoran.
Corcoran made it 2-0 at the 5:47 mark of the second period, with Christian Keator and Matt Greenhut earning assists.
Mark Laoue and Keator followed with goals for a 4-0 lead going into the third.
Sean Smith, Zach Usinger and Andrew Gore had the assists.
Seventh-seeded Fairfield (9-10-0) broke through on Michael Aquila’s goal off assists by Kevin Robinson and Zach Weinstein midway through the final frame.
Keatpr’s unassisted goal at 9:44 completed the scoring.
Marc Van Etten had 17 saves for Trumbull.
Conner Frawley had 28 stops for Fairfield.
