St. Joseph, Trumbull earns berths in FCIACS

Five teams have clinched FCIAC playoff berths: Staples, St. Joseph, New Canaan, Darien and Trumbull.

• New Canaan scored 7 runs in the bottom of the seventh to beat Trumbull, 7-4, clinching a tournament berth and moving up to third place in the standings. The Rams are currently third based on tiebreakers, having beaten both Darien and Trumbull.

• Darien clinched a tournament berth with a 9-4 win over the Westhill Vikings. Darien is No. 4 behind New Canaan and ahead of fifth-place Trumbull, as the Wave won the head-to-head match up back on April 23.

• St. Joseph defeated Ludlowe 4-3. The Cadets are the No. 2 seed in the tournament.

• Warde is currently in sixth place at 11-6 and can clinch with a win at Ridgefield on Friday.

• Ridgefield beat Wilton 3-0, and Greenwich beat Trinity 5-2, keeping both those teams alive in the playoff hunt.

• Four teams are 10-7 and tied for seventh place with one game remaining: Greenwich, Ludlowe, Ridgefield, and Westhill.
