
The Trumbull High softball team rallied in a big way to defeat Fairfield Ludlowe, 14-2, on Monday.
Lea Thompson had an RBI single in the third inning to cut Ludlowe's lead to 2-1.
Erica Fluskey and Lauren Zielinski hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning to put coach Jacqui Sheftz’ Eagles ahead for good, 3-2.
Briana Giacobbe had a two-run triple in the fifth.
Ally Szabo had three hits.
Stephanie Liptack (triple) and Haley Komorowski (single) had their first varsity hits.
Szabo and Marisa Valenti combined on the mound to pitch a four-hitter.
Valenti struck out 7 of the 10 batters she faced.
Trumbull is now 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the FCIAC. The Eagles host New Canaan Wednesday at 4:15.
