Softball: St. Joseph's Payton Doiron flirts with no-hitter

St. Joseph defeated Stamford High, 9-2, in FCIAC girls softball on Saturday.

Payton Doiron took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, before the Knights’ Gina Mattioli broke up the bid with a two-run home run. Doiron struck out nine.

Kaitlin Capobianco had two hits and three RBIs for the Cadets, now 10-1, 8-0 FCIAC.

Paige Hunter and Kayla Giacobbe each drove in two runs.

Stamford is 6-6, 4-4 FCIAC.
