Softball: St. Joseph defeats Norwalk to stay perfect

St. Joseph’s softball team defeated Norwalk High, 13-1, on Thursday.

The Cadets are now 13-0 in the FCIAC and 16-1 overall.

Norwalk is 4-9 in the FCIAC.

Hannah Errico singled and scored on Melissa Bike’s two-out double to open the scoring for coach Jeff Babineau’s Cadets in the bottom of the first inning. Jovanna Hillman followed with a run-scoring double.

In the second, Elena Ball singled with two outs and scored when Hanna Hutchison doubled to the fence in right field.

The Cadets scored five runs in the third and tacked on five more sixth to shorten the game.

Allison Pitasi doubled for the Bears, who scored their run in the fourth.

Ball finished with three hits and two RBIs.

Bike added a two-run homer.

Errico had three hits and drove in two runs.
