Soccer: Jenna Bike National Player of the Year

St. Joseph High’s Jenna Bike has been named the National High School Player of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Dec. 8.

Bike, who will attend Boston College, scored 25 goals as a senior to help coach Jack Nogueria’s Cadets complete a 22-1 season with the program’s four state championship.

A 5-foot-6 forward, Bike competed with the U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team last summer in Mexico City. An All-American selection, she was the Gatorade Connecticut Player of the Year as a junior.

Bike had 19 goals and 15 assists to earn All-American honors as a junior. She has been named All-State all four years.

As a sophomore, Bike tallied 40 goals and 35 assists as the Cadets won the FCIAC and Class LL state championships. She scored the only goal in the FCIAC final in 2013 and had a goal and an assist in the state final.

Trumbull High graduate Vanessa Pruzinsky, who went on to star at Notre Dame, was National Player of the Year in 1998.
