Mark Hirschbeck’s third hit of the game drove in the go-ahead run and sparked a three-run rally when Trumbull Post 141 went on the road to defeat Greenwich, 4-1 in 10 innings on Friday.
Manager Brett Conners’ team finished second in Zone 4 and will play a state tournament home game at Trumbull High at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Greenwich (17-9) built an unearned run in the first inning before Tim Kecker pitched six shutout innings.
Trumbull (21-6) tied the game in the third when Mat DeReinzo doubled to score Hirschbeck, who had singled.
Brian Hnatuk came on in relief to toss three more scoreless frames for Trumbull.
In the 10th, Simon Whiteman and Luke Waldek had base hits to set the stage for Hirschbeck’s RBI single.
Hnatuk doubled to score Waldek and Matt Fasoli’s third hit plated Hnatuk.
