Nick Williams allowed only a seventh-inning hit to pitch St. Joseph to a 2-1 victory over Fairfield Ludlowe in an FCIAC quarterfinal baseball game in Trumbull on Tuesday.
The second-seeded Cadets will play sixth-seeded Fairfield Warde in the FCIAC semifinals on Wednesday, May 28, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ballpark at Harbor Yards. Warde defeated third-seeded Darien High, 6-2.
Williams allowed Ludlowe only one hit, walked one, and struck out 12.
St. Joseph (15-7) scratched out a run in the first inning on a wild pitch and in the third on a throwing error.
The seventh-seeded Falcons (13-8) scored in the seventh after Connor Daley reached base on a one-out throwing error.
Nick Warkentin broke up the no-hit bid and shutout with a sharp RBI single to right.
With runners on the corners, Williams (6-2) enticed a pop fly to Mark Hirschbeck at shortstop.
