St. Joseph High School senior Matt Batten, recently signed his National Letter of Intent to play Division I baseball for the Quinnipiac University Bobcats, under head coach Dan Gooley.

An honor student, member of student government and student ambassador at St. Joseph, Batten, a Shelton native, said, “I am really happy with my decision to join Quinnipiac University and the Bobcats. I can’t wait to get started.”

Batten has been no stranger to success on the field.

In 2008, he was a member of the Shelton National Little League that represented New England at the Little League World Series in Williamsport PA.

His junior year at St. Joseph, Batten earned All-FCIAC, All-State, All-MSG CT Area and Triple Crown All-Defensive Team honors.

Batten will captain and play shortstop for the Cadets this season.
