Trumbull Post 141 defeated Fairfield, 8-0, in a Zone IV Senior American Legion baseball game at Kiwanis Field on Monday.

Carl Johnson pitched the five-hit shut out, striking out two.

Brendan Moore had three hits and two RBIs, while Tyler Graziano had two hits and drove home two runs.

Simon Whiteman, Luke Waldek and Ryan Fritz had two hits each.

Trumbull (14-6) scored two runs in the first inning.

Whiteman reached on an error, stole second and Graziano reached base on another error.

Whiteman beat the return throw home on a double steal to give Post 141 the lead.

Waldek, Casey Mack and Fritz drew walks to force home the second run.

Trumbull made it 3-0 in the second.

Moore led off with a single and stole second before Whiteman placed a bunt that the pitcher and catcher had no play on for a single.

After a stolen base put runners on second and third, Graziano’s sacrifice fly plated Moore.

In the fourth, Zach Sagar drew a leadoff walk and Moore’s triple brought him home.

Whiteman singled Moore home and then stole his fourth base in the game.

Graziano’s high hopper into center field scored Whiteman for a 6-0 lead.

In the sixth, Graziano doubled with one out, Brandon Liscinsky was hit by a pitch and Waldek singled home Graziano.

Fritz singled to lead off the seventh inning. Sagar was hit by a pitch before Moore notched another RBI.
