Trumbull Post 141 completed a three-game series sweep of Ridgefield in Zone IV play, and manager Brett Conner’s squad did it with another outstanding pitching performance on Thursday.

Tim Keckler tossed a two-hitter, didn’t walk a batter, and struck out 10 in the 3-0 victory. Keckler’s gem followed consecutive 4-0 shutouts posted by Stanley Wolpiuk and Nikko Arganese.

Trumbull (11-2) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Carl Johnson singled home Wolpiuk, who had singled and stolen a base.

In the fourth, Zach Sagar led off with a single to right. After a strikeout, Wolpiuk tripled to the right-center gap scoring Sagar.

Johnson follows with a high chopper over the third baseman for an RBI single, driving in Wolpiuk.

Ridgefield (3-10) threatended in the top of the sixth inning, with its first two hits of the night (singles by Doug Goldstone and Jeremy Gordon).

Keckler struck out the next batter, and then induced a 6-4-3 double play that was started by Luke Waldek, and turned by Mark Hirschbeck to Mat DeRienzo at first.

Wolpiuk led off the bottom of the inning with his third hit of the night, another triple. He was stranded after a pop to short, a foul pop to first and a groundout to second.

Trumbull will host Fairfield in a doubleheader starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
