Tim Keckler threw a one-hitter and Trumbull Post 141 defeated Wilton, 10-0 in the rubber match of their Zone IV American Legion series on July 13.

With the win, manager Brett Conners’ team improved to 18-5.

Post 141 will visit first-place Stamford (23-2) on Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Cubeta Stadium and return home to play Post 3 on Wednesday at 5:30.

Keckler went the distance, striking out seven and walking two. Nick Mitchell had his fifth hit in the series for Wilton (10-14) in the first inning.

Simon Whiteman led off the game with a triple over the left fielder’s head. He scored on Luke Waldek’s sacrifice fly to right.

Trumbull pushed the score to 5-0 in the fourth. Carl Johnson singled to center to start the inning. Following a strikeout, Jeff Hage drew an eight-pitch walk.

After Whiteman bunted between third base and pitcher for a single to load the bases, Waldek walked to force in Johnson.

Zach Sagar then singled through the right side to drive home Hage and Whiteman.

With Sagar at first and Waldek at third, Trumbull exceuted a double steal with Waldek scoring and Sagar going to second.

A liner to center resulted in a 8-8-6 double play to end the inning.

Mat DeRienzo led off the five-run seventh inning with a single.

Stanley Wolpiuk followed with a single over shortstop and pinch hitter Nikko Arganese walked to load the bases.

Following a popup to first and a strikeout, Joe Nemchek singled to right driving in DeRienzo and Wolpiuk. Arganese was awarded home on play as throw from left field went out of play. Nemchek, who went to second on the throw, was awarded third.

Whiteman was hit by a pitch and stole second before Waldek drove in his third and fourth runs of the game with a single.
