Christian Keator scored at 9:01 of the third period to provide the winning margin when St. Joseph High defeated New Canaan, 3-2, in the first round of the Division I hockey tournament in Shelton on Thursday.

The sixth-seeded Cadets (16-4-1) will play third-seeded Darien (17-2-2) in the quarterfinals  at Terry Connors Rink in Stamford on Saturday at a time to be determined.

Ryan Corcoran and Matt Greenhut assisted on the winning tally, as St. Joseph rallied from a 2-0 deficit to advance.

New Cannan (12-7-2) took a 1-0 lead in the first period and made it 2-0 in the second before the Cadets came back.

Filippo Petrini scored goals at 11:47 and 13:49 to tie the game after two.

Dom Sidorczuk and Corcoran assisted on the first goal.

Marc Van Etten had 25 saves for the Cadets, who were out shot 29-27.
