The St. Joseph High boys cross country team defeated McMahon of Norwalk and Harding High on Oct. 1 in Greenwich.

The six-team meet featured overall meet winner Staples of Westport, along with Trumbull and Greenwich.

The Cadets (7-7) were led by sophomore James Mas, who recorded a fifth-place finish in 16:28.

Senior Jared Quigley (46th, 19:12), junior Evan Aldo (47th, 19:15), junior Jack Guman (52nd, 19:31), senior Aidan Quigley (53rd, 19:32) and senior Joe Capio (56th, 19:49) all ran solid races for St. Joseph.

Seniors Chris Haack (20:14) and Jon Lemanski (20:30) placed 63rd and 68th, respectively.

Freshman Nicholas Russo placed 94th in 23:26 and sophomore Nick Maltese placed 95th in 23:37.

The Cadets wrap up its regular-season FCIAC schedule with a five-team meet next Tuesday at Waveny Park in New Canaan. They will battle Danbury, Ridgefield and Trinity Catholic of Stamford.
