Gymnasts reflect on important win

The Trumbull High gymnastics team ended Wilton High’s 36-meet winning streak, when coach Celina Huber’s Eagles  defeated the Warriors, 135.8-133.05, to improve to 9-0 on Tuesday, Jan. 28.

Captain Tara Oliver feels the team’s previous meet with Fairfield Ludlowe contributed.

“It (a 131.95-131.85 win) was an extremely close meet, and after defeating them, the team had so much confidence,” she said. “We went into our meet against Wilton with so much momentum.”

In the win over the Warriors, senior Linda McAuley set the school record on floor (9.55) and all around (37.85). In addition she tied the school record for beam (9.5).

McAuley said, “We all support one another and push each other to be better, which is exactly what a team needs to do in order to be successful.”

Trumbull visits Foran of Milford at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
