Girls swimming: Trumbull relay sets record at Class LL meet
The Trumbull High girls swimming team placed sixth in the Class LL Championships, as the 200 freestyle relay team set a school record for coach Bill Strickland’s Eagles.
Elizabeth Stankevitz, Sophia Bragg, Regan Ryan and Mia Zajac placed sixth in the 200 free, breaking the school record with a time of 1:41.51.
The 200 medley relay team of Sammi Werner, Bragg, Delaney Walsh and Ryan also placed sixth.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Zajac, Nancie Ziegler, Delaney Walsh and Karina Walsh placed 10th.
In the 200 freestyle, Ziegler was 13th and Ashleigh Piro 22nd.
In the 200 individual medley, Walsh was eighth and Stankevitz 24th.
In the 50 freestyle, Bragg was 15th, Zajac 18th and Ryan 19th.
In the 100 butterfly, Bragg was 7th and Julia Nevins 15th.
In the 100 freestyle, Ryan was 20th.
In the 500 freestyle, Ziegler was eighth, Walsh 14th, Werner 23rd and Piro 24th.
In the 100 backstroke, Werner was 20th and Anna Haydostian 24th.
In the 100 breaststroke, Nevins was 22nd.
In the 1-meter dive, Natalie Smerling was 11th, Katelyn Cerulli 12th, Olivia Grecco 14th and Cassie Gallace 18th.
