The Trumbull High girls basketball team improved its overall record to 5-1 and 2-0 in the FCIAC with a 64-39 win over Amity-Woodbridge in the Masuk Holiday Tournament championship game in Monroe on Wednesday.

Trumbull trailed 11-2 eary then came storming back with a great team effort, outscoring the Spartans 19-8 in the second period and 18-6 in the third.

Alyssa Breunig scored 15 points behind four 3-pointers to lead coach Steve Tobitsch’s Eagles. Claudia Tucci scored 14 points,

Breunig and Tucci shared tourney MVP honors.

Julie Keckler scored 11 and Nina Vetter nine.

Taylor Brown had eight points and five assists and Victoria Ray had six rebounds.

Amity was led by Elise Graham (13 points).
