A solid defensive effort lifted the Trumbull High girls basketball team past visiting Wilton High by a score of 35-27 on Saturday afternoon in a makeup game resulting from snow the night before.

With the win, the Eagles picked up their 11th win in FCIAC play, qualifying the squad for the conference playoffs.

Trumbull trailed 11-7 after one quarter of play, but outscored the Warriors 10-1 in the second period and never looked back.

Claudia Tucci and Alyssa Breunig scored 14 and 13 points, respectively, and Kristina Vetter and Julie Keckler both added four points in the win.

Breunig had a double-double as she pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds, to go along with a trio of steals and shot block.

Vetter had five rebounds and a block. Taylor Brown and Keckler both had four rebounds.

Victoria Ray dished out five assists. Tucci and Keckler both came away with steals.

Tucci made six free throws as the Eagles hit 10 of 14 foul shots in the game.
