St. Joseph won for the third straight time, defeating Staples High in overtime, 41-38, in an FCIAC girls basketball game in Trumbull on Thursday.

With the win, coach Chris Lindwall’s Cadets improved to 7-4 overall and 5-3 in the FCIAC. Staples is 6-6, 4-5.

Staples, led by Talia Hendel with 11 points, won the final frame 12-9 to force overtime at 36.

Shannon Grabowski scored 12 points for the Cadets.

Ashley Lynch scored seven points with eight rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Chelsea Dos Santos had seven points and 10 rebounds.

Melissa Bike had 10 rebounds and five points.

St. Joseph will play at Lauralton Hall in Milford on Monday at 7 p.m.
