Trumbull High took a six-point lead after one quarter and played Fairfield Ludlowe even the rest of the way to take home a 37-31 FCIAC road win on Friday.

Coach Steve Tobitsch’s Eagles are now 8-2 overall and 5-1 in the FCIAC.

Claudia Tucci paced the Eagles with 17 points and Nina Vetter had 14 points.  

“We played outstanding team defense to help us qualify for the state tournament,” said Tobitsch.

Ludlowe, led by Alex McKinnon and Julia Pangallo with nine points each, is now 6-3.

Trumbull loses have come to state ranked New Fairfield (11-0) and Fairfield Warde (8-1).
