Ryan Fritz drove in five runs, James DeNomme four, and coach Phil Pacelli’s Trumbull High baseball team went on the road and defeated non-league rival Bunnell High, 13-7, on Thursday.

The Eagles (1-1) will play at Fairfield Ludlowe (0-2) today at 4.

Trumbull jumped in front by scoring four runs in the top of the first inning.

Jake Levison walked, stole second, and Chris Masi singled him home.

Casey Mack was hit by a pitch and DeNomme followed with a line-drive two-run double up the gap in left-center field.

Willy Velez beat out an infield single to shortstop, and with runners on the corners, Fritz pulled a grounder to first base to plate DeNomme.

Bunnell scored four runs, two earned, as it sent 10 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first against Trumbull starter Colin Keyes

Velez created the go-ahead run for Trumbull in the third when he doubled, stole third, and scored on Luke Waldek’s RBI grounder.

Trumbull broke the game open with three runs in the fourth and five in the fifth.
