Christian Trefz scored four touchdowns, Kevin Trefz had a pair of scores, and the St. Joseph High football team went on the road and pinned a 44-16 defeat on Westhill High in Stamford on Saturday, Nov. 14.
Coach Joe Della Vecchia’s Cadets improved to 6-2 with the FCIAC win. Westhill is 1-7.
Cory Babineau completed 9 of 20 passes for 123 yards, including a 13-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Trefz.
Nick Dicairano kicked a 27-yard field goal and tacked on five conversion points.
Christian Trefz, who had 228 yards of total offense (152 on the ground), scored on runs of 14 and 2 yards to stake St. Joseph to a 14-0 lead after one quarter.
Westhill’s Carl-Henry Gedeon threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Daniel Hogan to get the Vikings on the board first in the second period.
Christian Trefz answered with a 2-yard touchdown run before Babineau’s scoring pass boosted the Cadets’ lead to 28-7 at the half.
Christian Trefz ran the ball in from a yard out for the only scoring in the third period.
Kevin Trefz had a 3-yard touchdown run and Dicairano booted his field goal in the fourth.
Westhill had a two-point safety and Blake Newcomer threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Allan Nowlin to complete the scoring. Matt Alswanger kicked both PAT’s for the Vikings.
