Football: St. Joseph shuts out Wilton, 35-0

St. Joseph defeated Wilton High, 35-0, behind Christian Trefz and Cory Babineau in an FCIAC football road game on Friday night.

Trefz scored four touchdowns and ran for 238 yards for coach Joe Della Vecchia’s Cadets, now 3-1.

Babineau, who passed for 203 yards, opened the scoring with a 5-yard pass to Kevin Trefz. Nick DiCairano booted the first of five conversions.

Christian Trefz then broke off a 68-yard scoring run and the Cadets had a 14-0 lead after one quarter.

Babineau’s 3-yard pass to Christian Trefz gave St. Joseph a 21-0 lead at the half.

Christian Trefz scored on a 7-yard run in the third period and from 47 yards out in the final stanza.

Wilton, held in check by the Cadets defense that was led by Brian Hamer’s three quarterback sacks, is 1-4.
