Football: St. Joseph mixes it up in win over Stamford

The St. Joseph football team went on the road and posted a 48-20 victory over FCIAC rival Stamford High on Friday.

Coach Joe Della Vecchia’s 5-1 Cadets scored 27 points in the second quarter to take a 34-7 lead into the half.

Jaden Shirden ran for three touchdowns, 3, 36 and 15 yards.

David Summers tossed four scoring passes, three to Jared Mallozzi (20, 39 and 7 yards).

Will Diamontis caught a 36-yard TD pass.

Stamford’s Lguenskee Saint Louis threw for three touchdowns, two to Isaiah Johnson (26 and 65 yards) and one to Terry Forrester (46 yards).

Will Martinez booted two extra points.

Stamford is 2-4 on the season.
