FCIAC quarterfinals set for Monday

The Greenwich Cardinals will lead a field of eight strong teams into the postseason, as the FCIAC baseball tournament gets underway Monday, May 20, at 4 p.m.

Greenwich, Ridgefield, New Canaan and St. Joseph are the top four seeds and will host quarterfinal games, while Trumbull, Ludlowe, Danbury and Staples will be the road teams.

All the seeds have been finalized with the exception of the No. 3 and 4 spots, which will go to the St. Joseph Cadets and New Canaan Rams.

New Canaan currently leads with a 14-4 record, while St. Joseph is 13-4, but the Cadets have one game remaining as they face Warde at 1 p.m., Saturday, at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. If St. Joseph wins that game, it will be the No. 3 seed with New Canaan taking No. 4. If St. Joseph loses, New Canaan will be No. 3 and St. Joseph will be No. 4.

The FCIAC semifinals will be held Wednesday, May 22, at Harbor Yard, with games scheduled for 5:15 and 7:30 p.m. The final will be played at noon, Saturday, May 25 at Harbor Yard.

7. Danbury (12-6)

8. Staples (10-8) - Staples took the final seed via tiebreaker over Wilton
