Trumbull High lost a 17-10 decision to Ridgefield in FCIAC girls lacrosse action on Tuesday.

Coach Mike Spinner’s Eagles (5-8-1) turned in a strong effort against the Tigers (10-5), a top five seed in the upcoming FCIAC Tournament.

Six Eagles combined to score the 10 Trumbull goals. Carly Goroff scored three times, while Nora Collins and Lauren Canchola scored two goals apiece. Natalie Crowe added three assists.

Defensively, Kelly Reho and Jamie Appelberg turned in outstanding performances.

Arianna Matz was terrific in goal, making 17 saves.

Trumbull returns to the field on Thursday at 6 when the Eagles host Branford for their final home game of the season.

Prior to the game, Trumbull will honor its six seniors.

The Eagles need to win at least one of its final two games to qualify for the state tournament.

Trumbull visits Sacred Heart Academy in Hamden on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
