Trumbull's Stephen Briganti, the top seed in the FCIAC wrestling championship's 160-pound class, quickly secured a spot in the championships on Saturday at New Canaan High School.

Briganti pinned No. 4 Andrew Marquis of Danbury 54 seconds into the 160-pound semifinal match. He'll face Staples' Charles Lomanto, ranked No. 2, who defeated Mike Pelegrino of Warde in a 5-2 decision in the other semifinal.

The FCIAC championships, in all weight classes, is going on all day at New Canaan High School.

Seven other Trumbull wrestlers are in semifinal matches today. Updates will be posted on TrumbullTimes.com throughout the day.
