Trumbull High saw its run toward a second straight FCIAC baseball title derailed by Danbury High at Harbor Yard on Sunday night.

The seventh-seeded Hatters defeated the fifth-seeded Eagles, 2-1, behind the pitching of Corey Brosz, who gave up only an unearned run in the second inning.

Gerard Spiegel came out on the short end of the score, despite striking out six batters.

Danbury tied the game in the third and scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh.

“Gerard was outstanding,” Trumbull coach Paul Pacelli said of his right-handed senior. “They were just a little better that us tonight.”
