The St. Joseph boys cross country team placed 44th in Saturday's varsity unseeded race at the Wickham Invitational in East Hartford.

Senior Jack Moulder led the Cadets, placing 72nd overall in 18 minutes, 44 seconds.

Junior Brian Dineen placed 140th overall in 19:30 in the 3.1-mile, 446 runner race.

Junior Anthony Crocco placed 235th in 20:15 and sophomore Dante Criscio placed 343rd in21:19.

Also, sophomore Garrett Kalker placed 377th (21:58), senior Michael DeVore placed 381st (22:02) and senior Nicholas Russo placed 430th (23:47).

"Wickham Park can really humble you," said St. Joseph coach David Scrivines. "We had some mixed results today, but are looking forward to the challenge of returning in three weeks for the state championships (Oct. 29)."

In the junior varsity three race, St. Joseph placed 30th as a team.

Freshman Paul Fabbri led the way, placing 172nd overall in 21:57.

Sophomore Manuel Garzon placed 229th in 23:13, while freshman Jason Paul placed 247th in 23:39 and sophomore Luke Healy placed 279th in 24:53.

Freshman Shane Fitzgerald (289th, 25:15), Tim Gavrish (308th, 26:23) and Ethan Novicio (309th, 26:24) also competed in the 353-runner race.
