Craig Avery to be honored before game

Trumbull High School will have a special ceremony honoring Craig Avery, who recently passed away from cancer, prior to its varsity baseball game with St. Joseph on Monday, May 5, at 6:45.

“He was Trumbull baseball’s best fan, and by Trumbull baseball I mean THS, St. Joseph, Legion, Babe Ruth and Little League, the entire town,” said Mike Herbst, Trumbull High athletic director.

“Craig was extremely generous by helping out every baseball program in town if they needed something. He had a hand in every program.

“When he came to THS, he would open his chair at the end of the bleachers to watch a game. We are going to dedicate a chair and plaque set in concrete in the spot he used to watch the games in his memory.”
