Wartburg College’s top-seeded 157-pounder Cross Cannone continued his unbeaten senior season with an 8-3 victory over Wabash’s Jared Timberman at the NCWA National Duals third-place match in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday.

Cannone, the standout from Trumbull High, moved his winning streak to 50 which dates back to winning the 2017 National championship.

He is 16-0 on the season and has 103 career victories.

The second seed, Wartburg defeated No. 5 Wabash 27-13.

Wartburg lost to No. 3 Johnson & Wales, 18-17, in the semifinals.

This is the first time in this competition’s history (since 2002), Wartburg was not in the finals.

Cannone won by 15-0 technical fall over Thomas Grippi.

It was his 29th career tech fall, second on Wartburg’s career leader list.

Wartburg defeated Coe, 32-8, in the quarterfinals.

Cannone won by 5-3 decision over No. 10 Cole Erickson.

All but two of Cannone’s wins have been by bonus points.
