College wrestling: Cannone pins, Wartburg advances

Cross Cannone from Trumbull won his sixth straight match, and recorded his sixth fall of the season, when No. 1 Wartburg College defeated Augustana (Ill.), 38-0, in the second round of the NWCA National Duals in Fort. Wayne (Ind.).

Wartburg defeated SUNY-Cortland, 37-0, in the quarterfinals.

The Knights will meet the winner of Ithaca/Roger Williams at 10 a.m. Central Saturday in NWCA semifinals.

Cannone won his 141-pound match vs Augustana via a 46-second pin of Dale Charlier, as Wartburg posted its third shutout of the season.
