
Trumbull’s Harleigh Kaczegowicz, a freshman catcher for the University of Rochester women’s softball team, was an All-Liberty League second-team selection.
Making 38 starts, mostly behind the plate, Kaczegowicz batted .336 for the year (44/131) with nine doubles and a triple. She drove in 17 runs and scored 25, tying for the team lead.
Kaczegowicz was successful on 11 of 12 steal attempts. She threw out seven base stealers.
Eight Rochester players earned All-Liberty honors, after balloting by the league’s head coaches.
The Yellowjackets won the Liberty League regular-season title with a 10-2 record. They earned the top seed for the league playoffs and won to advance to the NCAA Division III championships.
UR opens NCAA play this Friday against Penn State-Behrend at St. John Fisher. The Yellowjackets will play Fisher in their second game of the three-team regional.
