St. Joseph’s teamed up offensively, and Michael Chaves pitched a gem, when the 11th-seeded Cadets advanced to the Class M semifinals with a thorough 14-1 victory over No. 3 Northwestern on Saturday.
Coach Jim Chaves’ Cadets (17-8) will play No. 7 seed Rockville (18-5) in the semifinals on Tuesday at 3:30 at Muzzy Field in Bristol.
Michael Chaves threw a complete game, with five strikeouts. He walked one.
Charlie Pagliarini had three hits, with a home run, double, three RBIs and three runs scored.
Hadyn Gourley three hits included a home run. He scored two runs.
Stephen Paolini had a triple, double, three RBIs and three runs scored.
Noah McDonald had an RBI single for Northwestern (19-4).
The Cadets opened states with shutout victories over No. 22 Grasso Tech (25-0) and No. 6 Granby Memorial (13-0).
