Battling out of the No. 8 seed, coach Chris Watts’ St. Joseph High boys basketball team played No. 1 seed Bridgeport Central tough before falling, 57-55, to the Hilltoppers in the FCIAC quarterfinals in Fairfield on Saturday night.

Arkel Ager scored 20 points to lead the Cadets (10-11). Marcus Blackwell scored 26 points for Central (20-1).

Erick Langston scored 18 points in the game, and St. Joseph led 18-16 after one period and the teams were tied at 33 each at the half. Central took a 51-48 lead into the scoring challenged final quarter.
