The St. Joseph High boys cross country team beat two of three teams in Tuesday’s quad-meet in Trumbull.

The Cadets defeated Central and Bassick, while dropping to FCIAC leader Darien.  Senior Jared Quigley was the top overall Cadet, placing 12th overall in 19:37.

Junior Evan Aldo placed 14th overall in 19:50 and junior Jack Guman placed 21st in 20:44.

Seniors Aidan Quigley (27th, 21:06), Jon Lemanski (29th, 21:07) and Erik Pstrag (31st, 21:50) were amongst the top placers for St. Joseph.

Freshman Matt Conway (34th, 22:31) and Nicholas Russo (39th, 23:19) and sophomore Nick Maltese (42nd, 25:09) rounded out the Cadet finishers.

The team placed 19th in the Amherst Invitational at Hampshire College in Amherst (Mass.) on Sept. 21.

Sophomore James Mas was the top Cadet finisher, placing 19th in 16:47.

Sophomore Nick Zannis placed 68th in 17:53, while juniors Aldo and Will Gallagher placed 105th and 106th, respectively, in 18:55 and 18:56.

Other finishers in the varsity race included: Lemanski (147th, 20:31) and fellow seniors Joe Capio (150th, 20:46) and Chris Haack (151st, 20:52).

In the junior varsity race, Guman was the top Cadet finisher, placing 117th in 20:56.

Senior Mike Magocsi placed 118th in 21:01, while Conway placed 160th in 22:23 and sophomore Matt Potvin placed 167th in 22:31.  Maltese placed 215th in 25:01.

St. Joseph won a one-point thriller in last week’s meet with Norwalk. The Cadets beat the Bears 28-29, while also defeating Westhill, 21-38. St. Joseph dropped to Stamford 29-28.  Mas was the top overall finisher in 16:44.

Zannis placed 6th overall in 18:19, while Gallagher placed 7th in 18:42 and junior Kyle O’Brien placed 9th overall in 19:18.

Aidan Quigley (12th, 19:52), Jared Quigley (13th, 19:56) and Aldo (14th, 19:57) were amongst the top Cadet finishers.

St. Joseph returns to action Oct. 1, at Greenwich. The meet includes Staples, Trumbull, McMahon and Harding.
