St. Joseph High took to the road to play Suffield High in a Class M second-round state tournament game on Friday, and coach Chris Lindwall’s 11th-seeded Cadets defeated the sixth-seeded home team, 63-45.

St. Joseph (15-6) will play at No. 3 New London (20-2) in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Trailing 15-14 after one quarter, the Cadets went on a 14-9 run to take a 28-24 lead into the half.

A 22-9 spurt in the third quarter upped the Cadets’ advantage to 50-32 after three periods.

Bridget Sharnick scored 23 points and Shannon O’Meara had 12, as she knocked down four 3-pointers.

Jackie Jozefick scored 10 points, Maite Gritsko nine and Ana DoCarmo had three steals.

Caitlin Sharnick scored six points, grabbed seven rebounds and had five assists and five steals.

Suffield High (15-6) was led by Meredith Ouellette, who scored 22 points.
