The St. Joseph High girls volleyball team defeated Trumbull High, 3-0, in an FCIAC match on Thursday.

It was St. Joseph’s first victory against Trumbull since 2010. The Eagles won the last three meetings, including a 3-1 win last year.

The Cadets are now 11-1 overall while Trumbull remains in the FCIAC playoff hunt at 5-4 overall.

Senior Maite Gritsko led the Cadets with 10 kills and one block while senior Lauren Pitney had six kills and 10 service points. Junior Jackie Jozefick collected eight kills, one block and 12 service points, Claire Condron had four blocks and two kills and junior Ellie Dudzinski had a game-high 23 assists.

Junior Alyssa Breunig was easily the best player on the floor for Trumbull, finishing with nine kills and four blocks. Junior Amelia Hampford added five kills while senior Hayley Giblin collected a team-high seven service points.
