Sean Hurley and Tom Schaefer scored third-period goals to give the St. Joseph boys ice hockey team a 6-5 victory over Stamford High at the Rinks at Shelton on Wednesday.

The Cadets (5-11-1) and the Black Knights (3-14-0) scored two goals each in both the first and second periods.

Hurley, on an assist from Ryan Corcoran, made it 5-4 at 7:18 of the third, and he assisted on Schaefer’s tally at the 9:21 mark. Stamford’s Mike Zarilli halved the deficit with 30 seconds remaining.

Stamford took a 2-0 lead, but Evan Boccino and Corcoran leveled the game in the first. Tyler English and Hurley assisted on Boccino’s goal.

Hurley made it 3-2 only 14 seconds into the second period, with Dom Sidorczuk and Corcoran assisting.

After Stamford tied it up, Corcoran, from Andy Van Etten, gave St. Joseph a 4-3 lead at 6:56. Zarilli tied the game in the 10th minute.

Christian Furce had 25 saves for the Cadets.
