The St. Joseph High football team improved its record to 6-0 when coach Joe Della Vecchia’s Cadets defeated Bassick of Bridgeport, 49-6, at Kennedy Stadium on Friday.
Jordan Vazzano threw for three touchdowns and Mufasa Abdul-Basir rushed for a pair of scores against the Lions (1-5).
Abdul-Basir (115 yards) run from 6 yards out gave St. Joseph a 7-6 lead after one period.
He scored on a 1-yard run and Mark Hirschbeck caught a 2-yard pass to boost the lead to 21-6 at the half.
Vazzano (169 yards) found Alex Pinto for a 15-yard score and Joey Civitella scored on a 4-yard run in the third quarter.
Lars Pedersen ended the period’s scoring with a 29-yard touchdown reception.
Shane Miller ran for 69 yards and a touchdown in the final period.
Kevin Bortnick kicked six extra points, while Mike Freeman had one.
