The St. Joseph High girls soccer team improved to 7-0-1 with a 3-0 victory over Trumbull High at McDougall Stadium on Monday night.

Sam Grasso scored off a perfect cross from Jenna Bike in the first half, and Leah Lewis took another pass from Bike to tally a second, before Julia Marino tapped one in off a scramble in the second half, as the Eagles suffered their first loss and dropped to 4-1-2.

Cadet coach Jack Nogueria was anxious for his team to extend its halftime lead.

“I was still a little worried at that point, but once we got the second goal, it freed us up to get the third one,” he said. “We’re very hard to contain. If a team doesn’t get a goal on us early and then back up and allows us to play, we’re very hard to handle.”
