CIAC Heptathlon: St. Joseph's Nia Christie places third to lead locals

Nia Christie, a freshman at St Joseph High, finished third in the CIAC Girls Heptathlon with a score of 3,729 points.

The seven-event competition was held last week at Manchester High School.

Seventy-two girls competed in the two-day event.

Trumbull High’s Kylie Adams (2,839) was 20th and the Eagles’ Julianne Spillane (1,388) was 46th.

Christie was 24th in the 800-meter run, Adams was 25th.

Christie was seventh in the long jump and Adams was 32nd.

Adams was third in the javelin throw and Christie was ninth.

In the CIAC Boys Decathlon (10 events), St. Joseph’s Ryan Haack (2,081) was 38th and the Cadets’ Justin Russo (1,827) was 45th.
