CHS comes back to defeat Cheshire Academy
The Christian Heritage School girls soccer team rallied from a 1-0 deficit to defeat Cheshire Academy, 3-1, on Wednesday.
After CHS went down in the fifth minute, the Dragons battled back in the eighth minute as Mia Angelini blasted home a near post upper 90 shot to tie the game.
Just 10 minutes later CHS took the lead for good when Lydia Welborn fed Ranita Muriel for the goal.
In the 25th minute, as CHS continued to find space around the Cheshire backs, Muriel scored her second goal of the game off an assist from Bella Christian to make the score 3-1.
CHS and Cheshire would push for goals in the second half, but neither could find the back of the net.
CHS is now 11-2-1 on the season and will host St. Andrew’s School (RI) on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day.
Meghan Ahearn scored two goals for Trumbull High when the Eagles defeated Danbury High, 2-1, in an FCIAC girls soccer match on Wednesday.
Coach Daniel Uhrlass’ Trumbull team closes the regular season with a 10-3-3 record.
Danbury is 5-8-3.
The Eagles are seeded sixth for the FCIAC playoffs and will play at third-seeded Ludlowe in the quarterfinals on Friday at 4:30.
Trumbull High’s girls volleyball team defeated Bridgeport Central, 3-0, on Wednesday.
Coach Tamara DeBerry’s Eagles are 12-5 overall and 10-5 in the FCIAC.
Ally Neilson had 22 assists, Riley Chase: six kills, Rachel Hage eight aces and Krystina Schueler four kills and four digs.
St. Joseph defeated Darien High, 3-0, in an FCIAC girls volleyball match on Wednesday.
Coach Jeff Babineau’s Cadets are 14-0 FCIAC and 17-1 overall.
Elena Ball had 10 kills, Christina Crocco eight kills and Bridget Fatse seven kills.
