Brandon Cole of Trumbull, a senior at Fairfield Prep, earned All State in Class LL swimming in the 500 freestyle, the 200 freestyle relay and the 400 freestyle relay. He will attend UConn and will swim for the Huskies against Division I competition. Prep set a state record in the State Open held at Yale University to garner All American status on March 22, by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay with a recorded time of 1:23.18, beating the previous state mark of 1:24.19. The quartet (pictured l-r) of Nick Wargo, Cole Brice Keblish and Connor Davis beat the All-American qualifying standard of 1:25.26 by more than two seconds. According to the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association website, it was the second-fastest time in the United States this season. The foursome also finished second at the Open in the 400-yard freestyle in 3:01.08, to eclipse the All-American standard of 3:07.43 by a whopping six seconds.
